Rise ‘n Shine Disability Magazine

Rise ’n Shine Disability Magazine is a bi-monthly Disability magazine that is printed in 60% English and 40% isiXhosa. The primary objective of the magazine is to create awareness about disability issues in South Africa. It is distributed free of charge in areas within the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, namely: Mdantsane, King Williamstown, Bisho, East London and outlying areas in the Eastern Cape.

Rise ‘n Shine Disability Magazine was established in 2008 by nine disabled activists (six females and three males). The overarching aims of Rise ‘n Shine Disability Magazine are to create an enabling environment for people with disabilities, to promote and advocate for the rights of people living with disabilities and educate communities about physically challenged people. The MDDA grant covers personnel costs, printing and distribution, operational costs, website maintenance and marketing.
