MDDA RECOGNISED AT THE IPM EXCELLENCE AWARDS

14 November 2023

  • The Media Development & Diversity Agency (MDDA) is pleased to have been recognised at the Institute of People Management (IPM) 2023 Excellence Awards hosted in Sun City, Rustenburg last night, Wednesday 22 November 2023. During the prestigious Awards ceremony, held on the last night of the IPM 2023 Convention, the MDDA walked away with the top recognition award in the category for Best Employee Wellness and Employee Engagement Programme.
The ceremony is an evening of anticipation, recognition, and celebration, showcasing the best in HR excellence. The Awards spotlight the remarkable individuals, teams, and initiatives that have left an indelible mark on the workforce, workplace environment, and overall corporate success. During this year’s awards, the MDDA was shortlisted for a number of categories, and managed to walk away with the coveted prize for Best Employee Wellness and Employee Engagement Programme Award.
Having emerged from the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, most organisations have grappled with employee health, wellness and engagement challenges. To address these, in 2022 the MDDA implemented interventions to help the organisation and to elevate the employee health and wellness issues through #MyWellbeing initiative as well as the #StaffConnect to improve staff engagement on overall issues across the Agency. These initiatives were geared towards promoting work life balance, managing and implementing the Hybrid Policy and ensuring that staff feel engaged and a part of the journey of continued growth and brand image of the Agency.
“As the MDDA we are really excited to have received this recognition, it marks an important milestone for us as an organisation. We have in the past grappled with a number of challenges relating to employee wellness and engagement, which necessitated the organisation to put in-place interventions to improve the wellbeing of our employees and conditions in the workplace. We have also been intentional in staff participation and consultation on cross cutting issues and used social interactions to improve morale and inclusivity in the MDDA.
This award is therefore a recognition of the hard work we have put in and an affirmation of our ongoing efforts”, says MDDA Acting Chief Executive officer (ACEO) Ms Nomkhosi Peter.
“To the IPM, we are truly grateful for the recognition, and we commit that, as a collective, we will continue to invest in rebuilding the company culture, boosting morale, and ensuring employees feel valued and heard,” she says.
